Vienna Easter Tour:
What’s the story behind Easter, the Easter Bunny, and the Habsburgs’ unique Easter rituals? Join us for a fascinating journey through Vienna’s Easter traditions, uncovering history, myths, and customs along the way.
At St. Stephen’s Cathedral, we’ll explore the festival’s ancient origins and hear tales of wooden donkeys and flying bells. Strolling toward the Hofburg Palace, we’ll dive into traditional Easter dishes and the lore of the Easter Bunny—plus a few of his lesser-known animal companions. Did you know the Habsburgs had peculiar Easter rituals? Empress Sisi, for example, was often conspicuously absent from one particular tradition. And while Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper” is famous in Milan, you’ll discover how this masterpiece has a surprising connection to Vienna.
Our journey concludes at the vibrant Easter market at Freyung Square, brimming with colorful eggs, artisanal crafts, and seasonal treats. Between history and festive cheer, this tour promises to put you in the Easter spirit!
