Vienna's Origins Tour with Moritz
Have you ever wondered what Vienna looked like before the palaces, cafés, and grand avenues? Long before emperors and composers, this city was a Roman frontier settlement, a medieval trading town, and a place shaped by city walls, markets, and monasteries. On the Vienna’s Origins Tour, we step into these earlier layers of the city and explore the foundations that still lie beneath today’s streets.
We walk through areas where Roman Vindobona once stood, follow medieval paths that became modern streets, and discover places that quietly connect Vienna’s earliest centuries with the city we know today. From old marketplaces to former defensive walls and hidden courtyards, the tour brings together stories of everyday life, trade, belief, and survival. It’s a two-hour journey into the roots of Vienna — perfect for visitors who want to understand not only what the city looks like, but how it became what it is.
Tour highlights:
- Explore traces of Roman Vindobona
- Walk through medieval streets and former market areas
- Discover Freyung and its historic surroundings
- Learn about life in early Vienna around Am Hof
- Visit remnants of Vienna’s old fortifications
And much much more!
