Kosher Apfelstrudel Baking Workshop with Maschi
Are you looking for a more intimate baking workshop in an authentic Viennese home in the inner city? Our Kosher Apfelstrudel baking workshop is offered in collaboration with a local Viennese certified home cook – Maschi. As a true Viennese and a member of Vienna’s Jewish community, Maschi combines the beauty of the Viennese and Jewish cuisines. She offers a variety of Jewish cooking and baking workshops.
You will be making two types of Strudels – an Apfelstrudel and a Topfenstrudel (crude cheese) and enjoy small snacks as well as coffee and tea. You will be baking in Maschi’s beautiful 19th century apartment, where you will also get to eat the fruit of your work at the end of the activity.
Please note – Jewish and non Jewish visitors are welcomed in this workshop. Maschi is a wonderful host and will make sure you have a great time while enjoying delicious appetisers, drinks and ofcourse your own creation – a tasty and authentic Strudel.
For the Jewish guests interested in this workshop, please note that Maschi’s kitchen is kosher and she uses kosher ingredients.

Why book this baking workshop?
This workshop is a great opportunity to visit an authentic Viennese home and cook in a cosy and friendly environment. While it might not feel as official as our workshops at the bakery or baking studio, this experience has a unique charm while still keeping a similar professionalism standard. Maschi is an experienced host who will know how to make sure you feel comfortable and confident about your baking abilities.
At the end of the workshop, you will get a stay and eat together. You will also receive the recipe to take home, so that you can re-practice your newly acquired Viennese skill.

Children: Children ages 6 and up may join the workshop, accompanied by an adult. Please note that the price is per participant, no matter they age, as we keep the number of participants small.
Accessibility: The building where Maschi lives has an elevator and so the workshop is accessible. Please inform us in advance about any needs you may have, to ensure that we can meet them.
Allergies: We kindly ask you to inform us in advance about any allergies or sensitivities. Furthermore, Maschi has a dog so if you are allergic, please inform us in advance.

Upon request we can organize this workshop as a private experience for your event. Maschi’s apartment has a capacity for up to 8-10 participants and can be an ideal option for private travel groups, families or for those interested in the kosher Viennese cuisine. Minimum number of participants:
The workshop takes place as a public experience and requires a minimum number of 4 participants. If the minimum is not reached, you will be informed in advance and offered alternative options.
Cancellation policy:
This workshop follows the cancellation policy of our partner Maschi. You may cancel up to 72 hours before the workshop and receive a 100% refund. Bookings cancelled less than 72 hours before the workshop will not be refunded, though we can try to find an alternative activity for you.
Pictures and videos:
Photos and short videos may be taken during the workshop for Secret Vienna promotional use.
