Are you looking for a tour to learn about Vienna's culinary past? Join our fascinating culinary history tour in Vienna with our guide Max!

Description of our culinary history tour in Vienna:

On this tour, we embark on a culinary journey through time. You’ll learn about historical markets, such as the Viennese Crab Market, since when we eat Kipferl in Vienna and how ingredients and spices we take for granted today found their way to us. You will learn how Lent influenced our menu, how coffee changed breakfast habits, and how sausage stands are historically connected to Napoleon. We will look at three levels:

  1. The ingredients: During the tour, you will learn where our most used ingredients come from, since when they have been in use and on which route they came to us.
  2. Viennese dishes, from whom we learned them and where they have been further exported to.
  3. How groceries and the method of preparation changed throughout history.

The tour includes various small tastings throughout the tour. Do not expect a full lunch on this tour but small samples that will complement the stories you will hear. The tastings are included in the tour’s price.

Tour Highlights:

  • Exploring Vienna’s culinary past
  • Examining local and foreign ingredients
  • Understanding the development of Viennese dishes
  • 2X Small tastings along the way

Und vieles mehr!
