A culinary journey through Vienna at Maschi’s table:
Viennese cuisine tells the story of a city shaped by the many peoples of the Habsburg Empire, including its Jewish communities. Recipes travelled with families, crossed borders and became part of everyday life in the imperial capital. In this Viennese Food Tasting Experience, Maschi welcomes you into her beautiful private home to explore that history through five dishes and the stories behind them.
In her spacious apartment on the border of Vienna’s first and second districts, two dishes are ready when you arrive, while three are finished together with her guidance. The menu draws on classics such as beef soup with Grießnockerl and Frittaten, goulash, small Wiener Schnitzel and traditional Viennese sides. The focus is on tasting and discovery, with selected practical preparations offering an introduction to the food before you sit down to enjoy it.
Around Maschi’s large dining table, each dish opens a conversation about its origins and its place in Vienna’s culinary traditions. Her preparation and historical research give the meal depth, while the small group of six to eight guests makes it easy to ask questions and get to know one another. Over three hours, you enjoy a personal encounter with Viennese food and hospitality—and the opportunity to meet other people over a shared meal.
