Springtime means it’s finally time to visit our favourite Viennese ice cream parlors and even on rainy days we can’t help but visit the parlors we love the most. Maybe you are an ice cream lover yourself but you can’t decide on which spot to try out first, so today I want to introduce you to some of our favourite ice cream places.
Eissalon am Schwedenplatz
This ice cream parlor has a long family tradition, the idea to sell their ice cream was born in 1886. Their first shop was located in the 20th district, founded in 1887. Today they are located in the 1st district, Franz-Josefs-Kai 7, and are open Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 11 pm. They offer a massive variety of different ice cream flavours and also vegan options.

Eis-Greissler
The Eis-Greissler company has 4 shops in Vienna (Rotenturmstraße; Schottenbastei; Mariahilfer Straße; Neubaugasse), they offer all kinds of flavours such as “pumpkin seed oil”, “poppy”, “butter biscuit”, but also flavours like “strawberry” and “raspberry” as well as vegan ice cream. They are open Monday to Sunday till 8 and 9 pm.

Tichy Eissalon
Founded in 1952, this is another parlor with a long tradition, located in the 10th district, Reumannplatz 13. This store is famous for their Eismarillenknödel (apricots frozen in ice cream dumplings), but they also offer all kinds of ice cream flavours as well as a big variety of vegan options. They are open Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 11 pm. Click here for more information.
Vidoni Grinzing
If you find your way to the 19th district, you have to visit this ice cream parlor, Cobenzlgasse 7. They focus on organic products and try to produce as much as possible themselves. At Vidoni, they offer vegan flavours like “earl-grey”, “raspberry violet” or “peanut” – their variety of flavours keeps on changing. This Ice cream place is open Monday to Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm (if the weather is nice they’ll stay open a bit longer). Click here for more information.
Gelati Serafini
Those of you that are diabetic should definitely visit this ice cream shop. It’s located in the Wallensteinstraße 52 in the 20th district. They offer well known flavours but also ice cream for diabetics (Vanilla, Hazelnut, Chocolate and Strawberry). They are open Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm. Click here for more information.
