New Year’s Eve in Vienna

Are you still planning your New Year’s Eve in Vienna?

2023 is about to roll upon us, and yet there are probably still some things left to do and left to plan. We put together a list of things you could do on New Year’s Eve in Vienna.

1.Silvesterpfad

If you don’t mind the big crowd and the buzz of the inner city, you should do the Silvesterpfad (new year’s eve track). Between 2 pm and 2 am you can walk through the first district, walk past food stalls and dance to music. It’s quite the popular attraction, so be aware of the mass of people you’ll probably stumble upon.

2.Wiener Konzerthaus

Those of you that won’t to avoid the crowd of people, should think about visiting a concert. The Konzerthaus puts together new year’s eve concerts, one starts at 7.30 pm and one at 10.30 pm. The first concert focuses on Beethoven’s 9th, the second one is a gala by the Philharmonix.

3.Museums

Another calmer alternative is a visit to one of our numerous museums. Some museums, like the Albertina, will stay open till 6 pm, so you can enjoy their exhibitions and then go about the last 6 hours before 2023 rolls upon us.

4. Parties and Clubs

A famous spot for new year’s eve celebrations is the Badeschiff. From 6 pm on you can visit this spot for drinks, curling, punch and mulled wine and many more. Numerous clubs will host parties, like the The Loft. We’d advise you to buy tickets beforehand, since those spots are quite popular.

Bonus:

If you want to stay at home or in your hotel, you should definitely watch the Viennese show “Ein echter Wiener geht nicht unter” on ORF 1 at around 10:20 pm. This is a very traditional show, which has been on for years on end. Another highlight is “Dinner for one”, which will be on around 11:20 pm.
