Looking for places to go shopping in Vienna? Here’s a tip for you!
A trip to Vienna isn’t complete without checking out our famous shopping streets. One of those hotspots is the Graben, located right in the heart of our city centre.
The Graben, a former ditch of the Roman military camp Vindobona, was integrated into the city in the 12the century – with the help of the ransom extorted for the English king Richard Lionheart, who was imprisoned in Erdberg, the city expansion was financed. Today the Graben is especially famous for the plague column, which was built in 1679.
While walking through this area, you will stumble upon many traditional shops. Some of our favourites include the stationary store Weidler, the perfumery Nägele & Strubell or the jeweller Anton Heldwein. There are also many modern stores like H&M, Douglas, Versace or Wolford. This area is definitely rather expensive, but if you want to soak in the historic atmosphere, it’s definitely worth a visit.
