The Karmelitermarkt is a spot filled with history!
Have you ever wondered, if there are other must-visit markets in Vienna? Besides the Naschmarkt, Vienna is home to many street markets, and one of the oldest markets can be found in the second district. This very spot is called the “Karmelitermarkt”.
Laws about the market can be found from 1671. Ever since then the market has been growing, offering a large variety of groceries, drinks and sometimes even care products. Be prepared to walk through an excited crowd of visitors, take your time to explore the different market stalls and try snacks you may have never heard of before. The market is open Monday to Friday from 6am till 9pm, Saturdays from 6am till 6pm.
On Saturdays a farmers market joins the Karmelitermarkt, from 8am on you can comb through organic products. Near the market you will find small coffee shops and restaurants where you can spend some time studying the other visitors and bask in the market’s inviting atmosphere.
